Student Voice and Leadership Opportunities

 

KS4 Prefects

The Prefect team act as role models for the whole student body and representative in the School. It is the expectation that prefects support staff and students to uphold our school values of Curiosity, Ambition, Respect and Engagement.

Transition Leaders

Transition Leaders support Year 6 students who arrive during the academic year through their first terms at The Eastbourne Academy. Transition Leaders are trained to use their own personal experience of being a new student to support and guide others.

Student Messenger

Students will support the office, pastoral and teaching staff to support the rest of the school body by completing a variety of jobs during the day

Peer Mentors/Wellbeing ambassadors

Peer mentors and wellbeing ambassadors aim to support and build students confidence and relationships, to develop resilience and character, or raise aspirations, rather than to develop specific academic skills or knowledge.

Sports Captains

The Sports Captains are a cohort of students who are passionate about sports and enjoy inspiring others to participate in physical activity and sport.The Sports Captains assist the PE Department in lessons, clubs and at sports events culminating in the selection of Community Teams for Sports Day.Student Leadership opportunities.

Dance Scholars

Students undertake a qualification in Dance Leadership and will learn and demonstrate important life skills whilst learning to lead basic dance activities to younger people, their peers, and within the community.Dance Leaders will also become advocates for leadership and help engage their peers and younger students.

They will also develop the skills necessary to help run Dance clubs throughout your school to help others become more physically active and engaged

Librarians

Support the smooth running of the Library at break times and after school. They play a key role in the promotion of reading for pleasure at The Eastbourne Academy.

Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a challenging programme of leisure time activities, designed to encourage young people to learn new skills, help others, and experience adventure in the outdoors.

Sports/Football Scholars

Sports/Football Scholars will undertake a L1 & L2 qualification in Sports Leadership and will learn and demonstrate important life skills whilst learning to lead basic football activities to younger people, their peers, and within the community.
