Quality First Teaching

The power of excellent teaching for all our students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities is at the heart of our approach to teaching and learning. The SEND Code of Practice advises that high quality teaching, adapted for individual pupils, is the first step in responding to pupils who have or may have SEN. In light of this, our TEA Ten For SEND overlaps with our teaching ‘House Style’ to ensure we have inclusive practice that is beneficial to all students, but particularly beneficial to those with SEND needs.

Holistic Understanding of SEND Students

We believe every child is unique, and we take the time to truly know and understand each student with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). By constantly listening, planning, and adapting our support around your child, we create a warm, nurturing environment where they feel safe, understood, and inspired to achieve.

Utilising Teaching Assistants Effectively

Our learning support assistants (LSAs) bring patience, warmth, and encouragement to every SEND student they support. They work hand in hand with our teachers, giving your child the tailored guidance and confidence they need to explore, grow, and achieve their very best building towards a goal of greater confidence and independence.

Carefully Selected Interventions

We understand that structured, targeted interventions can be a powerful tool in supporting our students' learning. Our interventions, paired with our high aspirations, are carefully selected and perfectly tailored to meet individual learning needs.

Learning Inclusion Nurturing Centre (LINC)

The LINC is a space that students with additional needs can access for both Academic and Pastoral support.

It includes a sensory space and meeting rooms for multi-agency professionals as well as the SENCO and the team of support workers that offer intervention and in class support.

Students with a LINC pass are welcome to access the space at any time, be that for a time out or if they have a more urgent need. They will always be greeted by a friendly face and by a team that understands their needs. The LINC is in its own building and has kitchen and outdoor facilities to ensure that students can spend their break times there if the main body of the school is overwhelming.
