My name is Ed Dadswell and I am writing to introduce myself as the new Head of Parental Engagement for Academic Success. I am also the staff link for the Parent Forum.

As a  teacher; Head of department; parent and pupil, The Eastbourne Academy has played a hugely significant part in my life and the lives of my family.

In addition I have lived in the area for the vast majority of my life and am acutely aware of the importance of the school to the community.

Throughout my working life, my passion has been to help people succeed beyond their expectations. I firmly believe that academic success is a key that not just opens doors for the future but can give an inner confidence that can provide a foundation for life.

I know first hand the challenges of supporting a child through secondary education: that feeling of helplessness when faced with a homework task that I don’t understand, on a system I struggle to access whilst being confronted by a teen that wants to be anywhere but doing homework. I am excited by the opportunity to provide parents with information, skills and above all confidence to help their child succeed academically.

Due to Covid restrictions we are currently unable to run face to face in school but we are really keen to establish this as soon as we are able. In the meantime, creating loom videos with information for all year groups on how to support your child with revision/ homework in the core subjects.
