Performing Arts

Expressive Arts draws on the expertise of specialist teachers from Performing Arts, Drama, Dance and Music. The department benefits from the use of a dedicated dance studio, the Academy hall, drama practice rooms and a fully equipped music suite.

At Key Stage 4  students can opt to study GCSE Performing Arts, which incorporates Dance, Drama and Music/Singing, they can also study the discreet subjects of Music and Drama. At KS4, students can follow the GCSE Performing Arts Double Award course, which is the equivalent of two GCSEs.

Participants must wear the dedicated kit at the appropriate time and place.

Beyond the classroom, students can attend various extra curricular clubs such as Dance and Art. Regular trips to the theatre and to galleries also feature. Ofsted (Nov.2008) praised the contribution the arts subjects made to students' personal development and well being.
