Student Support
At The Eastbourne Academy we pride ourselves on providing support for our students in various ways. Each of our internal schools has a Community Manager who is the main point of contact for both students and parents.
The Academy also runs programmes of student leadership to help students develop their own skills and those of their peers.
Students on these programmes receive specialist training:
Prefects
Students take responsibility for running their own areas and teams. Senior prefects include team leaders and the Head Boy and Head Girl for each Learning Community and for the Academy.
Buddies
Older students pair with new arrivals to help them settle in.
Student Supporters
Students who have overcome a particular problem become mentors to those who are still struggling to succeed.
Peer Mediators
Students are trained to resolve arguments peacefully between other students.
Student Voice
Students take part in shaping decisions for the whole Academy, including interviewing new staff and contributing to decisions about resources and learning.
Student Panel
A panel of students which uses peer pressure in a positive way to encourage younger students to improve their behaviour in lessons and around the Academy.
